Settling in

It is essential that every child attending our Pre-School feels safe and secure. The Pre-School environment will be a new experience for some children, with each child adjusting and settling in at a different pace. Our aim is to make this process as reassuring and comfortable as possible to meet each child’s needs.

We will help parents and children by providing a story about Bob the Bear, our Pre-School mascot, showing all the things Bob gets up to at Pre-School. We will also invite both parents and children in for a short taster session before a child is due to start with us, so they are familiar with the staff and, most importantly, the toys!.

Making Relationships

Every child is assigned a Key person when they start at Nanstallon Pre-School. However, all members of staff are responsible for settling children into the Pre-School therefore all children will be interacted with and cared for by all members of staff throughout the Pre-School.

Staff ensure resources that are accessible to the children, are varied and planned for based on their interest or need, they achieve this through high quality interactions and observations. Working as a team, they support each other to ensure that each child achieves their full potential, ensuring that they encourage children to talk and communicate about their learning, provide first hand experiences and give clear explanations. They will ensure that the teaching and learning of young children is differentiated to meet individual children’s needs. They provide resources that reflect diversity and inclusion.
We are proud that we maintain a high ratio of adults to children, with at least four qualified members of staff in any one session and there is always a fully trained Paediatric First Aider on duty in Pre-School.

Policies & Procedures

All our policies are designed to offer the best possible experience for children and families in the Pre-School.  Our policies are reviewed on a regular basis and comments and suggestions from parents/carers are always welcome. The policy document folder is available for parents/ carers to read at any time.

Pre-School Committee Information

The Pre-School is a non-profit making organisation, with charitable status, and is run by a voluntary committee. The elected core committee are responsible for major decision making, reviewing both policy and practice and for the employment and appraisal of staff.

Committee meetings then take place once per term, all parents/carers are invited.

AGM

The Annual General Meeting (AGM), at which the new committee is elected, is generally held in December each year. Committee meetings then take place once per term, all parents/carers are invited, dates and times of these meetings are advertised on Famly.

Fundraising

Fund-raising is essential if we are to keep the group financially healthy and the Pre-School stimulating and up to date. The Committee also endeavours, through various events, to raise funds for the purchase of new equipment, parent/carer support is always most welcome as are new ideas for fund-raising and functions.
